Outdoor playsmiley

We have really enjoyed being outside this week and took part in lots of different physical activities. We have played and explored in the ALPS which is an outdoor learning space located in the school grounds. It is a safe open space in which the children can explore and play freely. The children loved collecting sticks/leaves to make pictures with, they explored a stick den and used lots of big movements such as climbing, running and jumping.

We have also taken a small group to the library this week which the children thoroughly enjoyed. They was so good through the whole journey, walking there and back and showing good listening skillsyes

On Thursday whilst the weather was nice we played up on the grass area in nursery, the children enjoyed rolling down the hill and participating in water play. Amy set up a car wash on the concrete area were the children loved to wash the cars & bikes, they also had water squirters to cool each other down withlaugh

These groups help children's speech and language skills and helps builds confidence within a group. The children have formed beautiful friendships/relationships with staff through having this quiet time in small groups. They have done really well to take turns throughout these activities and show "can do" attitudesyes We as a team are so proud of the independent learners they are turning intoheart

Wednesday 1st Maysmiley

We are focusing our learning on facial features & senses. We have set up activities which prompt the children to talk about features and what we use them for. We have been asking questions such as "what do we use to smell with" "what do we use to see".. the children have enjoyed telling us the things they enjoy smelling such as "perfume, flowers and food". They have also been able to tell us things they see when coming into nursery or during our environmental walks. Please try this at home with your children and let us know what examples they give yousmileyyes

Thursday 2nd Maysmiley

Today we enjoyed water/ice play, we made frozen cups/bowls with flowers/petals inside for the children to play and explore with. The children enjoyed using the water squirters to unfreeze them.

We also enjoyed playdough with the hedgehog mats, we used wooden sticks to represent the spikes, The children was confident in counting the sticks as they used them to make spikes for their hedgehogs.
