week ending 10th November

Welcome back to our blog.

This week we have been learning about what it is like in the ocean and what kinds of creatures live there. Our text of the week has been 'Commotion in the Ocean'.

We have looked at books and the internet to find out new things about some of our favourite sea creatures and we have written about them. We have used our read write inc sounds to help us spell.

There are lots of lovely colours and shapes under the sea so we have created a lot of art work using paint, collage and colouring. We have made fish and turtles and created many pictures.

In Maths this week we have been looking at making equal amounts. We compared sets of objects and looked at what we need to add to make them have equal amounts.  We have also been looking at shapes {mainly circles and triangles}, we have been naming them and saying how many straight or curved sides and corners they have.

We have had lots of ocean activities going on in continuous provision this week. We have had a pirate ship to play with and there have been toy crabs in the sand tray. We've had whales, dolphins, sharks and many other sea creatures to play with in the water tray. We've been doing jigsaws and reading books about sea creatures.

Our text of the week next week is 'What the ladybird heard at the seaside' by Julia Donaldson.
