week ending 11th March 2022

Hello and a very warm welcome back to our class blog. This week we have bene learning about Farmer Duck. A poor and very overworked duck who had some wonderful friends who hatched a plan to save him from a very lazy farmer. Let's take a little look at this weeks learning ....

We started the week off by unveiling the text of the week. We listened to the story and then created a story map to depict key events from the story. This is something that we do with most texts of the week and is a great feature of early reading and writing.

We continue to develop and enhance different areas of the classroom and this week we have created a Feed Fred table. Here we learn all about phonics and green words and this gives us a chance to explore and imitate the adults that help us with Read Write Inc.  This is a great way for us to pretend to be a teacher smiley

We have also been developing our outdoor areas. We have talked to the children about what they would like to play and hey presto here it is! Coffee anyone?

The great outdoors has featured quite heavily in our learning this week. Here we are using the space to categorise objects according to the sound that they begin with - this is a great idea that can easily be done at home using objects from around the house.

We have also been exploring numbers on a grand scale. This week we have been thinking about numbers to 10 - how we can show them, add them and find them in and around the classroom.  Next week we will focus on number bonds to 10 yes

We have also been developing our letter recognition and formation through fun activities done on a large scale. Again another very simple way to support your child at home smiley

Next week we will be using the text The Growing Story to help us with our learning.

Have a great weekend smiley
