week ending 12th January 2024

Happy New Year and a very warm welcome back to our class blog. This half term we will be focusing on using Traditional Tales to help us with our learning. We will be using the lovely familiar texts such as Gingerbread Man, Jack and the Beanstalk and The Three Billy Goats Gruff. This week our learning has been linked to The Gingerbread Man. Let's take a little look at some of the lovely continuous provision activities we have engaged with this week smiley

This week we watched a You Tube video showing how to make a Gingerbread Man. We then used our memory and recall skills to write a list of ingredients. Take a look at our writing yes

We also used an innovation technique to think about different characters that could be created by the author to take the place of the Gingerbread Man. We had some lovely ideas and transformed the story and make a label for our newly designed characters. Take a little look at some of the ideas enlightened

Writing is such an important part of the learning that we do in school. It's such a joy to see the children's writing develop over time and some of the work they are producing independently is truly wonderful. Her is just a small sample of the writing we are proud of this week smiley

Not all of our writing happens indoors at tables. We take our learning outside and use chalks and waters on a big scale as this helps our movements and control when holding a pencil. Here we are writing sounds using chalks yes

In Maths this week we have been learning all about matching number and quantity alongside subitising. Here we are creating number block stacks and then assigning the correct number card.

We have also been busy problem solving and trying to think of ways to get the Gingerbread Man safely across the river. Take a look at this lovely idea. Well done yes

Next week we will be using the text Jack and the Beanstalk to help focus our learning. Please see the link below....

Please remember we are hosting our Reading Stay and Play sessions on either Wednesday or Friday (Please see the Weduc sent to find out your day) after you drop off. It's really important that someone attends so we can share with you our new reading book rota.

Have a great weekend
