week ending 17th November

Welcome back to the blog.

We've had a great week. It's has been very busy and a lot of fun. Our text of the week was 'What they ladybird heard at the seaside' by Julia Donaldson.

We have been finding out about the seaside environment and the animals that live there. We've also had lots of ladybird activities too.

On Wednesday we had a lovely morning at Haigh Hall. The weather had been very rainy so we decided to have a lovely walk around the nature park. We looked at the trees and the colours of the autumn leaves. We walked in the woodland and kicked the leaves, climbed on some logs and collected lots of leaves and twigs. We also played spot the squirrel and were very lucky because we found some climbing in the trees. A big highlight of the morning was the coach ride which some children said it was their favourite part of the morning.

We did some lovely autumn tree artwork and we wrote about our favourite part of the trip.

In Maths we have been looking at the part and whole of things. We looked at parts of objects around the classroom and found where they belong to make the whole thing. We have also been looking at shapes in the environment and went on a shape hunt looking for circles and triangles.

We've also enjoyed and learned a lot in continuous provision.

Next week our text of the week is 'On the farm' by Axel Scheffler.
