Week ending 18th May 2018

This week we have used the text The Scarecrows' Wedding as the focus for our learning. This lends itself perfectly to the royal wedding celebrations that are due to happen at the weekend.

We started the week off by designing a wedding cake. We talked about different sizes, flavours and more importantly, how we would get 3 tiers to stay on top of each other. Here we are designing and decorating.

Then came the fun part! The part we have all been waiting for. Cutting and eating the cake. Delicious!
In keeping with the wedding theme we devised menus that we would like to see if we were ever lucky enough to be invited to a wedding. These menus really show off the progress that we have made with our writing and there is no doubt at all that we are able to work independently to create wonderful pieces of writing.
We have also been designing bouquets and buttonholes. This was a tricky task but there is no doubt that we have all the perseverance needed to overcome difficult challenges.
We have also been designing wedding cards. Take a look at this wonderful writing that we have completed. This wedding focus has really promoted and engaged the children in many different opportunities to write. We are so very proud of them.
We have put a collection of all of the work we have completed this week on a board in class. Please come and see it.
We hope that you have a lovely weekend. See you Monday. Reception Staff and children smiley
