Week ending 20th October 2017

Hi everyone and welcome back to our blog. This week has been the second week we have devoted to developing our knowledge on Autumn. We have been continuing to use our senses to explore the world around us. smiley

We used a pumpkin and some cornflour and added the two together. It was a slimy messy gloop.  We had such a good time talking about the different sensations it gave us

Lucy said It's a sticky mess

Tylon - It's cold

Lexie - It's runny and feels gloopy

no

We have also been sorting and classifying objects according to their size, colour and shape. This is a really simple and easy activity to do and provides great opportunities for language development.

We have also been exploring different smells linked to Autumn. We used cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger to scent some rice and then explored it with our hands and noses. We described what smells it reminded us of. Here is what we said.....

Charlie - It's like smelling cookies

Malak - It's like a curry

Thomas - It's like sweet sugar on cakes

We have also been busy exploring the different patterns and textures and how we could use them to paint and create different marks. We used grass, seeds, pine cones, leaves and twigs to create different marks.
Thank you for the great turn out at parents evening. It was lovely to see so many of you and to share with you your childs achievements. We hope that you have a wonderful weeks break and we will see you all again very soon.smiley
