week ending 20th October 2023

Hello and welcome back to our blog. This week we have been exploring Autumn and looking at the changes that occur during this season. Let's have a look at some of the lovely experiences we have explored this week in class smiley

We started the week off by listening to the story We are going on a leaf hunt. We explored what happens to the leaves on trees in Autumn and then created our very own Autumn tree in the creative area. Here we are adding some leaves smiley

We explored and developed our funky fingers by doing some Autumn themed threading. We had to develop our skills and follow the instructions set by a grown up. Take a look at us persevering and not giving up!

We have also been bust developing our number order knowledge and placing the leaves with numbers on in the correct order. Take a look at these pictures yes

We have also been thinking about the objects we have in class and the sounds we hear when we say the names for example bbb banana, ccc cup and so on. This week we sorted lots of different objects according to their initial sounds smiley

We have also been using lots of different autumn objects to create pictures. Take a look at some of these lovely examples. We have explored colour, shape, texture and size to name but a few and we used our imagination and creativity to create some lovely images. Well done everyone great work! yes

Despite such a busy week learning we managed to get out onto0 the ALPS. When learning about Autumn where better than to be outside! We loved it. We matched letters to leaves in the woods, we explored pumpkins - their colour, shapes, texture. We looked at the seeds and how the colour is different on the inside than the outside. We even had a ghost pumpkin - it's called a ghost pumpkin because it's white! Here we are loving learning on the ALPS smiley

In  Maths this week we have been exploring the language of more and fewer. Tricky but we are grasping what these words mean. Take a look at us talking about which of our animal friends have more or fewer than the other one yes

That's all for this week. We hope that you have a lovely half term and a well deserve rest. The children have been amazing this half term, they are keen and enthusiastic to learn and we love it. We will be sending the children home with new reading books, some Read Write Inc letters to practice and a special Read Write Inc bingo game - everyone who returns this to school when we return will have a small prize to say well done. Keep up the good work!

On our return to school our topic will be Animals and their habitat. We will start our learning off with the lovely story Jacob O'Reilly wants a Pet - a little boy who wants the most random of pets! As always find the link below to watch ready
