Week ending 22nd March

Welcome to another blog showing a very busy week in Reception F class. The highlight of this week has been the visit of 'Little Barn Farm'. It was great to meet Farmer Natalie and all her animals. She told us lots of facts about them and let us hold and stroke them. We walked up to the ALPS and went into the woodland and met the hens and rabbits. Farmer Natalie let us hold them.

First we met the hens.

Next we met the rabbits.

After that we met the sheep, goat and calf.

Farmer Natalie explained that the calf was a baby cow and liked to drink milk. She asked if we would like to help and give the calf some milk from the bottle. The calf drank it all very quickly. We did a really good job!

We've also had a visit from Mrs Shirley this week and had a great music lesson.

In literacy this week we have been focussing on the season of 'Spring' and looking at the other seasons too. We have been writing about the changes we see in the Springtime, looking at the different clothes we wear as the weather gets a little bit warmer. We have also been writing about our visit to 'Little Barn Farm' and saying what our favourite part of it was.

In Maths we ahve been learning about doubling numbers, we have been showing doubles on our fingers, rolling dice and giving thumbs up if we get a double. We've been making doubles on a butterfly's wings. We have also been learning about weight and comparing objects to see which are heavy and which are light.

We've also been very busy around our classroom, we've been writing, drawing, collaging, finger painting, playing doctors, building in construction and we've re-planted our vegetable plants into bigger pots, hopefully they'll keep growing.

Next week we will be finding out about the 'Life Cycles' of some plants and animals.

Have a lovely weekend.
