week ending 24th November 24

Hello and a warm and windy welcome back to this weeks class blog. Despite the weather outside we have been utilising the wind to help develop our knowledge of what happens when the wind blows. We went outside and used the wind toys to explore and experiment with colours and movement. Take a look at us learning smiley

This week we have set up lots of lovely activities linked to the Farm. We have explored activities in different areas of the classroom and looked at how they can help develop our knowledge of animals and events on the farm. Here are just some of them smiley

We have been using the text On The Farm to help us with our learning. We have been where food comes from and we have been creating our own lists. Take a look at our amazing writing yes

We continue to develop our read write inc skills in lots of different ways in the classroom. We play with letters, explore letters, write letters and lots more yes

In Maths we have been exploring the number 4. We have been looking at the different ways we can make 4 for example 1 + 3, 2 + 2 and 4 and 0. Here we are exploring making 4

We have been exploring ways to develop our finger control in class. We have accessed lots of different activities in class this week to explore our fine motor control. We have been using language such as pinch, squeeze, press, roll etc. Why not try some of these things at home?

We have been exploring writing in our areas of the classroom. Writing is so important to us and we look at exposing the children to lots of different ways to practice their skills and to excite them and help them onwards with their writing journey. Here are some of our lovely writing experiences this week. Take a look at all of the letters we can write. Great Work everyone!

We have also been learning about the number 5. We have been exploring part whole model and looking at the different ways we can show 5 for example 1 + 4 = 5. Here we are using our fingers to show different ways to make 5. This is a really simple idea to try at home and also great for developing our funky fingers!

Each and every Friday in class we change our reading books with the children. We talk to them about the types of books that they like to read. We are very lucky to have such a large lovely collection of books for the children to access and we are hoping that by doing so, we will continue to develop a love of reading.  smiley

Next week we will be using the text Rumble In The Jungle. We will be exploring all there is to know about jungle animals. Here is the link to the story if you would like to listen to it before Monday.
