Week ending 26th April

Welcome to our blog this week. We've had a lovely week using the book 'Stick Man' by Julia Donaldson. We have worked on our comprehension skills, after listening to the story we answered questions to show what we remember and understand about the story. We have drawn story maps, we drew pictures of the main events in the story and wrote sentences to match. We made lost posters because in the story Stick Man gets lost so we described what he looks like on our posters.

In Maths we have been subitising, looking at doubles and odd and even numbers. We have used counters, our fingers and looked at the Numberblocks to help us learn about numbers. We have also been looking at capacity comparing sizes of containers to see which will hold more or less than others and measuring how many spoonfuls they hold to check if our prediction was right.

We've had lots of activities around the story 'Stick Man' in our classroom. We've made lots of stickmen using the play dough and we've drawn Stick Man and his family tree. We've cut and arranged in size order the Stick Family. We've had lots of other activities that have helped us learn.

We had our last musical session with Mrs Shirley this week. We have really loved her coming in and working with us. We have played instruments, sung songs and danced. Some children even had a go at singing on their own. Thank you Mrs Shirley.

We have also continued developing our ball skills in PE with Mr Ellis. We had lots of fun.

We will be continuing our topic of Julia Donaldson books next week by reading 'The Snail and the Whale' If you would like to read the story, please click the link below.

Have a lovely weekend.
