week ending 26th January

Welcome to this weeks blog. It has been a very busy week, we have been learning about the traditional tale 'The Enormous Turnip'. We've had lots of turnip activities to do. In literacy we have thinking about the characters in the story and remembering what order they come to help pull the turnip up. We have sequenced pictures to retell the story. We have thought about questions we could ask the characters, we had some great questions and answers and super role playing. We also picked a character that had got lost and we made a lost poster. We drew the character and wrote words to describe them.

In Maths we have been looking at the numbers that go together to make 5. We used the rhyme '5 little speckled frogs, sat on a speckled log' As the frogs jumped off the log we looked at how many are still on the log and how many are in the pool and that there are still 5 frogs altogether. We looked at 4+1=5 and 3+2=5. We recorded what we found out on whiteboards.

We've also been looking at length in Maths too. We have sorted ribbons and put them in order from the shortest to the longest.

There have been lots of other activities going on in our classroom. We've been creative, we've been making things in construction, working in the funky fingers area, making super things with the playdough, reading lovely books and many more things. Our 3 bears cottage got some new kitchen resources so we've had budding chefs making porridge, soup, toast and lots of cups of tea.

Every Friday we have PE with Mr Ellis, here are some pictures from this weeks PE lesson.

We had 2 lovely mornings when our adults came into our class for a 'Reading Stay and Play' session. We had lots of reading activities to play with together. It was really good fun.

It's been a very busy week and we look forward to lots more fun and learning next week. Our traditional story next week is 'The 3 Little Pigs'. If you would like to listen to the story click the link below -

Have a lovely weekend.
