week ending 2nd February 2024

Hello and a warm welcome back to this weeks class blog. This week we have been using the text The Three Little Pigs let's take a look at some of the lovely experiences we have accessed this week in provision smiley

We started the week off by listening to the story and then recalling the key events from the story and then taking on the role of the author and illustrator to create our very own book. Ask us to tell you about the role of the illustrator and author enlightened

We have also been using a variety of resources to create the pigs houses. Can you guess which house this is? Yes our very own house of sticks. Amazing creation isn't it?

We have also been using these resources to help us act out and retell the story of the 3 Little Pigs. Here we are taking on different roles, changing our voices and working together to re-create the story smiley

We have also been creating Wanted posters to capture the wolf. This isthe perfect opportunity to develop and put into practice all of the skills we learn in Read Write Inc. You will notice that this week you have had another set of links sent home. Please continue to practice these at home as they are making a huge difference.

In Maths this week we have been thinking of different ways to represent the number 6. We have also updated our Maths display in the classroom to show all of our recent learning. Take a look at the pictures and talk to you child about the different ways they can show the n umber 6. Some of our stem sentences include 1 + 5 = 6, 2 + 4 = 6, 3 + 3 = 6 and so on.

I know so many of you were impressed with our sticky learning book when you came to class for our recent stay and play. Here are some of the lovely additions we have made that show all of our learning about Traditional Tales smiley

And here is a final round up of some other lovely learning experiences we have explored this week. We can't wait for Number Day on Friday!

Here are some pictures of our Number Day celebrations in class. We even had a number problem written on our bananas to solve before we ate them. What a wonderful day full of learning smiley
