week ending 8th March

Welcome to this week's blog. There's been a lot going on this week. We had a great day on Thursday celebrating 'World Book Day'. We had character's from lots of different stories and the children loved being dressed up for the day.

Literacy this week has been based on 'The Growing Story'. We have written about what we would like to be when we grow up. We have talked about the differences between what a baby can do and what we can do now and written about things we could do when we were a baby. We brought in baby photographs and looked at them and tried to work out who it was a picture of and talk about them. We loved sharing our pictures with our friends and teachers.

In Maths, we have been looking at the composition of numbers. We have been ordering the Numberblocks and thinking about how we know which one comes next. We have thought about one more and one less helps us to put them in order. We have looked at the composition of 8 and how 8 is 5 and 3 more. We have looked at making patterns. We have continued patterns with the counters, such as, red, blue, blue, red, blue ..... We have also tried to spot and fix mistakes in some patterns. We have also looked at spatial reasoning, we had to make the shapes fit to make a picture.

We've been busy making cards for someone special for this weekend. We hope you like them.

As well as all this work we have been doing, we've been very busy in the continuous provision. We've been reading non fiction books, playing with play dough, the doctor's surgery has been very busy again. We've been drawing, cutting, colour mixing with paints and writing. We've been building and making things. There's been lots and lots to do.

We've had lots of fun again in PE with Mr Ellis. We've been learning lots of new skills as well as getting lots of exercise.

It's been a very busy week but we've had great fun and been learning lots of new things.

Next week our story is 'A Superhero Like You' by Dr Ranj. If you would like to listen to the story please click the link below.

Have a lovely weekend.
