Week ending 8th September 2017

Hello and welcome to our very first blog in Reception. It was been great to meet you all and we can't wait to have you with us full time. Thank you to all those parents who attended the visit days, I am sure that you will agree that they were very beneficial and have really helped your children to settle in quickly. This week we have been busy learning all about the routines in Reception. We have been exploring the classroom and finding lots of new and exciting activities on offer. Take a look at our first two full days. We update our blog every Friday and this will be a great way to find out about the things that we have been learning about in class.

We have been exploring chalk and creating different patterns such as circles, wavy lines and zig zag lines

We have explored different types of construction materials to see which make the best models

We created a stick ladder outside and had lots of fun trying to run up and down it without touching the sticks

We have also started to learn about repeating patterns. Here is one Jameel made for us

Just a quick reminder for all parents. PE is on a Monday morning and we urge you to check that all items of your child's clothing has their name in it please - t-shirts, trousers, shoes etc. Read Write Inc bags need to come to school everyday please so that when we learn a new letter we can add it to their bag. Reading books are changed on a Monday morning and it is really important that you sign your child's reading record, this will show that you have shared the book with them and tells us what kind of books they are interested in and any wow moments that happened when you were sharing the story.

We hope that you have a lovely weekend and we will see you all on Monday
