Week ending Friday 27th September

Hello and welcome back to our blog. We have all really enjoyed this week even with the awful rain! We are really getting into the swing of things in Reception F and I know we are going to learn so much throughout our year together.

This week our text of the week has been The Gruffalo by Julia Donaldson. We have done so many fun activities and we have learnt so much. Making Gruffalo claw cakes and mixing our Gruffalo porridge were some of our favourites. Last week when we visited the Alps we collected lots of sticks, leaves and acorns so we could make our very own Gruffalo art and it turned our great!.

This week we have also been working really hard on our writing. We played a game of I spy and we wrote about the characters we spotted from our story. Take a look at some of our letters.

Our number of the week this week has been number 3. We have done so many activities in maths and some of them can be found on the sheet we have given out each week. We have been doing lots of counting, finding one more or one less, looking at time and even shape with our number this week. Next week the number we are learning about is 4.

Everyday we have been doing Read Write Inc. (RWI) and we have learnt so many new sounds. We now know m a s t d t i n p g o c k u b f. We send a sheet home every day with the new sound we have learnt so practising these sounds at home as well would be amazing.

Next week our text of the week is again written by Julia Donaldson and it is called Super worm and we have lots of fun activities planned.

Just a few reminders:

We have been doing PE every Friday so all PE kits need to be in school and all items inside labelled, including shoes as this would help so much with getting changed.

Reading books have now been sent home and they will be changed every Monday and Thursday. Reading at home will help so much but remember to write in their reading diary to let us know how they are doing.

Looking forward to Monday already, have a great weekend.
