Week ending Friday 29th November

Hello and welcome back to our class blog. This week we have been learning through our text of the week The Smartest Giant in Town. It has been such a lovely story to explore and the children have loved learning about our characters and we have all been discussing the importance of kindness and sharing just like our main character George.

Our number of the week this week has been number 10. We have celebrated getting to number 10 by having a big 10th birthday party. It was a great way to end learning about a new number every week until Christmas and the children have loved it.

We have been loving our challenges in our provision and the children are starting to complete these independently to get their challenge champion certificates. One challenge this week was to put the right about of spots on George the giants tie. This was a great way for us to practice matching numerals to quantity.
In our story George was so kind that the other characters gave him a crown for being so kind. As we are all so kind in Reception F we decided to make our own kindness crowns. They turned out great and we loved wearing them!
As George had to give away his clothes in our story we decided it would be a good idea to design him some more. Take a look...
As our text of the week was all about George's clothes we set a funky fingers challenge of fastening all of the buttons on a giant shirt. This was very tricky but the children persevered until they got to the end. Hopefully this will help us when we're getting changed for PE - buttons are tricky!

We are going to be looking at our last Julia Donaldson text of the week next week. We have loved reading all of her books and can't wait to start our next topic after Christmas.

Have a great weekend.
