Pre-School Room 1

Pre-school has now finished for the Summer holidays. We will miss you all.

We wish all the children good luck in their new classes.

End of year trip to Smithill’s farm - Thursday 21st July.

The children and staff had a great day - feeding the animals, tractor ride, playing on the park, donkey ride, bottle feeding lambs and even riding on the double decker bus.

The children had a fantastic visit from Curious Critters on Thursday morning (30th June). They stroked, held or looked at a tarantula, scorpion, snake, millipede, skinny pig, cockroach and gecko’s. The children were superstars and super brave when holding the critters.

We are so excited as Curious Critters will be visiting us on Thursday 30th June. Bringing a variety of bugs and beasts from snakes to spiders! ALL Pre-school Room 1 children are invited. If your child does not usually attend on a Thursday morning, they can come into

Pre-school 9.30am - 11.20am.

Just a reminder, Smithills farm trip is on Thursday 21st July. ALL Pre-school room 1 children are invited even if your child does not usually attend on a Thursday. The cost is £15.00 payable at the Nursery gate in cash. If you do not wish for your child to attend, there will be no Pre-school on this day.

Pre-school will close for half term after session on

Friday 27th May

and re-open on TUESDAY 7th June.

EXCITING NEWS!! Over the weekend something exciting was happening in the classroom. The children came back in today to find we no longer had cocoons but we had 9 beautiful painted lady butterflies hatched. Just 1 little cocoon left to hatch.

The children observed the butterflies in the house and then we all went outside to set them free. Some of the children were lucky enough to hold them before they flew away.🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋

This week (W/B 16th May) the children will be going to Wacky warehouse for a physical play session, at some point during one of their Pre-school sessions. Please ensure your child brings a coat with them everyday as we are walking there and back. You will receive a text message to say when your child has been.

If you would like a meet the teacher telephone call with Kerry, to discuss your child's development and all the wonderful thing's they like to do at Pre-school, please send a text message to the nursery text service, stating either a morning or afternoon call and if you would like Monday 23rd or Tuesday 24th May.

Just a reminder, if you would like your child to join in with the physical play session at Wacky warehouse, the cost is £3.50 and is payable in cash at the nursery gate. We will be walking down in small groups throughout the week beginning 16th May.

Every child will have the opportunity to go.

We are really sad to say that Ruth is leaving us to begin a new career. She has been working at nursery for 15 years, many of those spent working in Pre-school Room 1.
She is a fantastic member of the team who the children and staff love.

We wish her all the luck in the world. We will miss you Ruth. 😢

IMPORTANT REMINDER - If your child is turning 4 on or before the 31st August 2022, you need to complete and submit a Primary school application form. The deadline for this to be submitted is the 15th January 2022. It's really, really important that this is done or your child will not get a school place. Applications can be done either online (on the Wigan Council website - School admissions - Primary school - you will receive a receipt via email to confirm your form has been submitted) or paper form (available from the main school office, you will receive a receipt once returned).

If you need any help please don't hesitate to ask Kerry.

Christmas party time. The children enjoyed party games, balloons, party food and a visit from someone extra special.........Ho ho ho!

Look at the beautiful double rainbow the children spotted when out on an environmental walk.

Pre-school will close for the Christmas holidays after session on,

Friday 17th December and re-open on Wednesday 5th January 2022.

More information to follow regarding Christmas jumper day and the Christmas party.

MEET THE KEYPERSON

This will take place via a phone call with Kerry. This meeting is a lovely opportunity to hear about your child's development and all the wonderful thing's your child likes to do when at Pre-school. A text message has been sent asking you to reply to request either a morning, afternoon or evening phone call time on your stated date of either, Monday 6th December or Wednesday 8th December.

Week beginning 15th November, we are raising money for Children in Need. The children will be baking everyday and selling the cakes/biscuits for 20p at the end of every session. If your child attends on a Friday (19th), we are having a Pudsey pyjama party so please bring your child to Pre-school wearing their pyjamas (we will still be playing outdoors so suitable footwear is needed.)

If your child is turning 3 on or before the 31st August, please see the letter below. We can’t stress enough the importance that this application is submitted before the deadline. Also, please ensure you add 3 choices of Primary school to your form.

The children will be visiting the ALP's (Adventure Learning Progress Space) each week. This is a fantastic area on the school site which enables the children to explore and continue their learning outdoors. Please ensure your child always has a coat with them when they attend Pre-school and they will need a pair of wellies (labelled with their name) to leave at Pre-school so they are always prepared to go.

Pre-school will close for half term, after session, on

Friday 22nd October and re-open on Monday 1st November.

Your child will shortly be bringing home a school bag with a Loan library book.

This is NOT homework but is a lovely opportunity for you to spend time with your child, reading and looking through a story book which has been chosen especially by them.

Library books can be returned to be changed as many times as you wish each week so another book can be chosen.
