What a wonderful week we have had here in Year 1. We are really settling in now and enjoying our new routines and lessons.
A quick reminder that our PE day is Wednesday and snack money can be brought in daily for buying toast and juice for 60p.
English
In English we have been exploring the text ‘The Gruffalo’. We have been thinking of nouns and adjectives that can be used to describe the mouse and the Gruffalo.
Maths
In Maths this week we have been working on place value. We have been using numbers within ten for our work of representing numbers with objects and identifying numbers as words. We have been practicing our counting to 20 both forwards and backwards.
Science
In Science we have been looking at our topic of ‘Materials’. We have been looking at a variety of different mateirals and identifying objects that are made of these. We have discussed their properties and how they can be similar or different.
Topic
This week in our topic lesson has been focused around History and the subject of ‘Toys’. We have thought about the toys we have now and seen how they are different to the toys of the past. Thinking about what they are made of and how modern toys can be electronic. We have thought about or favourite toys and how we play with them.
