Pupil Premium

PUPIL PREMIUM STATEMENT

The Pupil Premium was introduced in April 2011.  Since 2011 schools have been allocated additional funding for children from low-income families who are eligible for free meals, looked after children and those from families with parents in the Armed Forces. The current level of Pupil Premium is £1455 per eligible pupil and £2350 for both LAC and Post LAC pupils and £335 for Service pupils.

Publicly-funded schools in England get extra funding from the government to help them improve the attainment of their disadvantaged pupils.

Evidence shows that children from disadvantaged backgrounds:

-generally face extra challenges in reaching their potential at school

-often do not perform as well as their peers

The pupil premium grant is designed to allow schools to help disadvantaged pupils by improving their progress and the exam results they achieve.
