It's hard to believe we're at the end of our second week already! The children have settled in well to year 1 and are managing their new structure and routines well.
It has been lovely to welcome the children back to school looking so smart in their school uniforms - thank you!
Our PE day is Wednesday. Your child can come into school dressed in their PE kit each Wednesday. PR kit is a red top and blue or black shorts. When the weather is cooler, they can wear plain blue or black jogging bottoms over the top. Children can wear their school jumper or cardigan or a plain blue or black hoody/jumper.
We change reading books each Friday if the reading record is signed. The children from red RWI groups and above will recieve two books per week, one paper book and one RWI book bag bag. We hope the children have the opportunity to read their books multiple times throughout the week to help them to become more fluent readers. It is expected that children start year 1 on green RWI books.
Maths
In Maths this half term we focus on numbers to ten and ensure we have a good understanding of these numbers. We are practising counting out accurately from a larger group and knowing what the numbers look like. There are lots of counting songs available on YouTube.
English
In English we are using the Gruffalo story and have been able to sequence and orally retell the story. We are practising using the sounds we know to spell words using our Fred fingers to help. You can watch the Gruffalo story on BBC iplayer.
Science
In Science we are learning about different types of materials and being able to spot them in our environment.
Topic
Our topic this half term is called All About Me. This week we have looked at old and new toys. If you could tell the children about toys you enjoyed playing with when you were little (or if you still have them to play with!) that would enhance their learning further.
Have a lovely weekend!
