Another busy week here in Year 1.

 

English

In English we have started our new class text 'How to catch a star’. We have listened to the story and learnt the model text by coming up with a story map and actions. We have also invetigated verbs both present and past tense.

 

Maths

In Maths this week we have been continuing our learning about place value and exploring numbers up to 50. We have use practical equipment to help us figure out missing numbers and exporing part whole models.

 

Science

In Sciencewe have been thinking more about materials. Exploring their features of transparent and opaque. We have been thinking of how this can effect the decision when chosing materials to use in rockets and spacesuits.

 

Topic

This week we have learnt more about the space race. We researched and learnt all about Tim Peake. We learnt about his life, what it was like for him as a child and how he became the british man to live on board the ISS. We also learnt a fun fact that he ran a maraton while in space.

 

We have had a very busy week of learning! And are looking forward to another week of learning lots about space.
