We have had a lovely week of learning here in year 1.
English
In English we have been exploring the text ‘The Snail and the Whale’ some more. We have been looking at how we can change our model text to use our own adjectives and nouns. We have written our own sentences using these to describe the Whale. We have made sentences more complicated by using the word ‘and’.
Maths
In Maths this week we have been working on addition and subtraction. We have been thinking about how two parts add together to make a whole. We have used the part whole model to break numbers into their different parts. We have used concrete resources and maths equipment to help us solve problems.
Science
In Science we have continued our new topic ‘Seasons’. We have looked at all the signs of Autumn and the changes in our environment when on our local walk. We have ordered the seasons and noted the different characteristics of each season.
Topic
In topic this week we have been exploring the local area on our walk as part of our topic ‘Our Place’ for Geography. We have walked the area around our school and taken note of the key places we know. We saw the stadium, ‘Wacky’, the care home, park and our school.
