16th January

What a fun week we have had learning about 'Jack and the Beanstalk' as our text of the week.

In Literacy, we created a story map and some of our illustrations are becoming really good!  The children's writing is improving week on week and we are very proud of their resilience towards activities.

Our favourite activity was selecting a leaf with a letter sound on it.  We then had to look around the classroom for items beginning with the sound we had selected!

In Maths, we learned about numberblocks 1-5.  We looked at how the numbers increased by one block each time.  Marlie told us 'It looks like stairs!'

We then built the numberblocks in pairs.  One child took one away and the other child had to say which one was missing.   The children were so good at iidentifying the missing numberblock!

We also enjoyed using the 'precious' blocks in provision to stack on top of numbered squares.  Some children used their knowledge from our Numberblock Math sessions to even choose the correct colours for the numbers.

The Star of the Week this week was Aurora for her attitude towards all learning activities this week.

Our dojo winner was Penny!  Well done girls

Next week we will be reading the traditional tale 'The Enormous Turnip'
