This week in pre-school we have red the story 'Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What do you see?'

You can listen to the song created by Mr Elephant of the story here:

Probably the most popular preschool book ever made, here we sing along as we see different animals starting with the Brown Bear. Copyright belongs to Henry Holt and Co. The children found the colours of some of the animals very funny.  Have you ever seen a purple cat!?

We took the ideas from the book into our drawing and writing practice in the adult focussed activity.  We were able to select the correct colours for our picture and some children even copied the letters from their name!

We also played a colour matching game using the large grabbers.  We had to select the correct ball for the bucket colour and put it in by squeezing the handle on the grabber.  The children loved racing against the timer to get all of the balls in the correct buckets.

After that, we counted how many balls we had managed to 'grab' before the timer ran out.

We have become quite confident now in going to the dinner hall at lunchtimes.  We know how to line up sensibly and follow our grown up down to the dinner hall.  We have met Leanne and Tina who help us in the dinner hall along with Miss Cain from our classroom.  We enjoy being together at lunchtime, sharing stories from our morning of play and looking forward to going back to the classroom to carry on our play and learning.

Our Star of The Day award is now in full flow and the children are enjoying singing the Star of the Day song and working hard throughout the day to see if they are chosen at home time.

When a child is Star of The Day they are able to sit on the Star of the Day bench at carpet times and demonstrate what a good role model they are!

Next week we will be learning more about colours, specifically the colours of a rainbow.  The rainbow has a very special meaning in pre-school which we will share with you on our blog next week.

See you all then!
