We have had a lovely week of learning here in year 1. We had a fabulous experience with our Poet visitor. He taught us to have confidence in our writing and a poem that we practiced together. We shared our poem with the school.
English
In English we have been exploring the text ‘The Snail and the Whale’ further. This time we have used the text as an example of a setting description. We have been looking at our model text to create a story map along with identifying when it uses capital letters, full stops and exclamation marks. We have written our own sentences using these.
Maths
In Maths this week we have been working on addition and subtraction some more. We have been thinking about how two parts add together to make a whole. We used this knowledge to explore our fact families when writing addition number sentences.
Science
In Science we have continued our topic of the seasons ‘Seasons’. We have explored the different weathers we see in each season. Thought about the season we are currently in because of the weather we have been experiencing.
Topic
In topic this week we have been looking at the photos of our local walk. We have sorted our photos into those that are ‘physical geography’ and those that are ‘human geography’.
