27th March

Well....that was a busy week!

In Literacy we have learned all about superheroes in our community.  We learned in detail about doctors, the air ambulance, scientists and firefighters.

We completed our independent writing tasks to show the grown ups in our classroom just what we can do all by ourselves!

So many children are beginning to write sentences, using finger spaces, a capital letter and a full stop.  It truly is amazing how capable our 4 and 5 year olds are!

In Maths, we learned two huge concepts!

First, we learned about doubling using the stem sentences:

2 is made of 1 and 1, 1 and 1 make 2

4 is made of 2 and 2, 2 and 2 make 4

6 is made of 3 and 3, 3 and 3 make six

8 is made of 4 and 4, 4 and 4 make 8

10 is made of 5 and 5, 5 and 5 make 10!

Following on from this learning, knowing that a double number can be split into two equal parts, we learned about odd and even numbers.

The numberblocks helped us with this as even numbers have flat tops and odd numbers do not.  Odd numbers look like a staircase.

Our seeds in the pots have also began to grow roots and by Friday three of the seeds also had a little shoot!  We are going to leave them under the shelter over the weekend and hope the sun shines to give the seeds some energy to grow!  Once the seeds have a root and a shoot, we will send them home for you to continue caring for at home.

Is it odd or is it even?

Next week, we will be enjoying Spring and Easter egg based activities.

We will also go on an egg hunt to find eggs with hidden dojos inside!

Reminders:

Tuesday is the Easter Bonnet parade.  Please bring your Easter hat/ bonnet/ crown to school on Tuesday morning.

Easter Bingo is happening after school!

On Thursday, we break up for the Easter holiday.  We return to school on Monday 20th April.

See you all next week!
