What a fun week we have had in Year 1. We have been busy continuing our topic of first steps by starting a DT project and learning more about mateirals.
English
In English we have continued our class text 'How to catch a star’. We been exploring this text further by creating set of instructions. Using our own equipment and ways to catch a star and writing how we would do this.
Maths
In Maths this week we have been been exploring mass and volume. We have use practical equipment such as cubes as a non-standard measure. We have used scales to see how much classroom items weigh. We have also looked at the volume of different containers maing them empty, nearly empty, half full, nearly full and empty.
Science
In Science we have been thinking about scientifc vocabulary. We have used our knowledge of materials to think of key words and their meanings.
Topic
This week we have used our first steps space topic to start a new DT project. We have looked at different moving pictures using a slider or lever to make an image move. We have designed our own moving picture by thinking of a space themed background and an object that will move through space.
