We have had a lovely week of learning here in year 1. We had a fabulous PE lesson where we have practiced our gymnastics movements, rolls and balances. We have shared ideas and thoughts on bullying in PSHE. We have also thought about algorithms in computing by writing our own based on sharing.
English
In English we have been using the text ‘The Snail and the Whale’. This time we have used an image of the story to create a setting description for a warm place. Coming up with the different nouns and adjectives to describe them. We have made our sentences more complex by using the word ‘and’ to join ideas.
Maths
In Maths this week we have been working on addition and subtraction in the form of number bonds. We have made number bond within 10 and to 10. We have written these as number sentences and modelled them using concrete resources.
Science
In Science we have explored the vocabulary associated with our topic of ‘Seasonal Change’. We have thought about the words and what they mean.
Topic
In topic this week we have been looking again at our local area and the walk we undertook. We have looked at maps and understood that they use a key to make features of interest. We created our own key to a map of the local area.
