Welcome back to this weeks class blog. This week we continued with our theme of animals and we explored everything there is to know about the Farm. here are some of the wonderful activities we could access this week to support our learning.
We have been exploring clay again this week, we are getting much better at joining different 'parts' of our creation to make a 'whole'. Many more of our clay farm animals made it to the painting stage than our Ocean animals!
We watched a video of wheat being harvested from the field. We know now that this is a very important ingredient for making bread. We also discovered many other foods that start their journey at the farm. Without the farms around the world, we wouldn't have very much food at all.
Cows
Milk Cheese Beef Yoghurt Hamburgers!
Pigs
Bacon Ham Pork Sausages Sausage rolls!
Chickens
Eggs Chicken Nuggets Chicken burgers
Mohamed made a harvester using the mobilo!
In PE, we practised twisting and balancing as we passed the bean bag as part of a team.
In Maths, we thought about the parts of the whole number 4. We know it can be split into 1,1,1,1 or 2,1,1 or 2,2 or 3,1.
We represented our ideas using a square sponge to make number 4 stampolines!
In Literacy this week, we wrote our won shopping list of food items we can buy that originate at a farm. Have you ever seen a fish farm? We found out that there are even farms in the middle of the ocean!
We talked about what we were having for lunch for Wednesday and where that food comes from. Louie was very excited to say his tuna on his sandwich must have come from a fish farm!
We also sorted animals by the habitat they live in. Next week, we will be finding out more about animals that live in the Jungle.
This week's dojo winner is Julia and our Star of the Week is Savannah for trying lots of different challenges around the classroom. Well done girls!
Next week we will be reading and learning about animals who live in the jungle through the text 'Rumble in the Jungle'.
You can watch a read aloud here:
See you all on Monday!
