9th May

Another lovely week had here in Year 1. We have been very busy learning, enjoying fun activities and spending our break times in the lovely weather.

English

In English we have completed our class text 'The Gingerbread Man’. We put together all of our improvements to the story before writing our own version. We have really enjoyed our innovated versions such as ‘The Kit Kat Kid’.

Maths

In Maths this week we have been continued our learning on multiplication and division by repeating our counting in 2’s, 5’s and 10’s. We have been looking at putting objects into equal groups and adding using arrays.

Science

In Science we have continued our topic by investigating the parts of plants further including labelling the parts of plants and discussing their purpose. We have planted our own seeds and watched as they have started to grow.

Topic

This week we have been thinking more about the climate in which we live and how it differs to different countries. We have investigated the climates of Greenland and Kenya. A country that is very cold and one that is hot. We have thought about how these countries climates are different because of how close to the equator or poles they are. We looked at the different types of animals that live in these climates and what clothing is suitable for living in them.

What a great week. Have a wonderful weekend and enjoy this beautiful weather. We look forward to sharing our next week with you.
