Thank you for taking the time to send in your family photographs. We will be looking at them next week. If you have not yet sent yours, please take a little time to do so, as they are an important part of helping your child to settle in. Thank you.
This week's stars of the week! Superstars
Next week we are going to start sending home a teddy bear for your child to look after over the weekend. The bear does not yet have a name but we are going to talk about this next week and introduce the children to the bear. The bear will come home with a book for you to write about your adventures in. Please take lots of photographs of your child's time with the bear. You can email your pictures over to me and I can print them out if you do not have the facilities to do this. Please email them to toni.clarke@westfield.wigan.sch.uk
We have had a very busy week! On Tuesday and Thursday, we enjoyed walking to the pet shop. The children loved the experience and saw guinea pigs, fish, dogs and insects. We also enjoyed listening to the squeaky toys. Walking all the way to the pet shop was a wonderful opportunity to develop the children’s physical skills, and they all did an amazing job.
Some of this week's activities
Tuesdays visit on the way back to nursery we saw a very furry caterpillar
Thursday's visit
On Monday we went for a walk in the local environment to collect leaves, twigs and conkers to explore back at nursery.
We have continued to enjoy the story Dear Zoo. We also enjoyed helping Julie make lion-, elephant- and giraffe-shaped biscuits. We talked about the ingredients we were using, practised counting and introduced new words.
We had so much fun exploring the grassy area. The children developed their physical skills, explored the environment, picked flowers and found spiders and snails. They also built friendships and engaged in imaginative role play.
Some of our activities this week were themed around autumn, and the children thoroughly enjoyed exploring them. We made play dough hedgehogs and autumn soup, among other seasonal activities.
Developing our fine motor skills by threading hoops and peeling stickers to follow the lines
Fun this week
Last Thursday afternoon, we introduced the children to feather blowing. This calming activity encouraged them to slow down, focus on their breathing and enjoy a relaxing moment.
