This week our text of the week has been In Every House on Every Street - a lovely text about how every house in unique and different but it's what's inside that makes it all the more special. Let's start by looking at some of this weeks invitations to play and learn 

We started the week off by creating our own houses. We talked about the features of the building and who lived inside. Here are some of the lovely pieces of work we have seen this week

We also talked about who had brothers, sisters and so on and we drew a picture about the people who lived inside  our homes. We have since added these to a lovely display inside the group room. Have a little look at parent's evening I am sure you will be impressed 

We also thought about what number is on our door. So this week we learnt some new number names. We ordered numbers, thought about the ones on our front door and even had a go at creating some larger numbers. I was blown away with some of the 3 digit numbers children could recognise

We even added people to houses with numerals on them. We identified the number, counted out the correct number of people and put them inside the house - a great activity for matching numeral and quantity

Our Funky Finger area has been super popular this week. We have been creating mosaics that require us to carefully use our pincer grip to peel off stickers and add them to a specific area - tricky but lots of fun!

To help us with our fine motor control and how we hold a pencil to make marks we created some wands. We have been using the internet and following the patterns on the screen and recreating them on a larger scale. We absolutely loved this. Roll up a piece of paper and search for Symphony pattern tracing and try it out for yourselves. Great for concentration! Here we are in action 

We also did Cosmic Yoga to help us develop control of our upper body and to support our gross motor skills. We used Cosmic Yoga and The Three Bears. We can't wait for the next session

And finally. Just a few little reminders .....

Book bags need to come to school every day please. We will change books on a Friday

We will be sending home daily the letter sound we have taught in class. Please try to find a few minutes to sit down and practice - it will really make a big difference
