It's a good job it's not the 19th Century because if it was, our children would be expected to work 14 hours a day for about 3 old pence a day. Jobs would include opening and closing trap doors in collieries or weaving in and out of huge, noisy machines collecting scraps in a cotton mill (plus other grisly jobs).
