This week's star of the week. Well done!!
This week you should have all received your child's key worker letter. We have also started the loan library this week in which your child has their own book bag and will come home with it at some point throughout the week. They picked the books themselves, which help promote independence and give the children a chance to express their preferences. The children really enjoyed this and were even more excited to start bringing them home to show you.
This is our class mascot. He is called Buddy the bear. Every week a child's name will be drawn so they can spend the weekend with Buddy. We would love to hear from you and how your weekend has been. This promotes communication and language skills and encourages the children to share what they have done with their family. This is a good opportunity to let the children show their peers what they have been up to and build good connections and relationships. It is also a good way to work in partnership with parents/families. Please take good care of Buddy, then every child gets the chance to take him home. There is a scrapbook inside Buddy's bag for you to write what he has been up to over the weekend. Please be mindful this does go home with other children, so if you do not wish for your child to be in photos, please just write about Buddy's stay. You are more than welcome to send across any photos to print off if you do not have access to a printer. Many Thanks

Some of our activities this week looked like this...
This week we have been focusing on the book Dear Zoo. The children have been keen to listen to it and explore activities that support the book. They have shown good listening skills and have enjoyed finding which animal lives in which box or basket. We have done a pairs game and have also painted animal pictures. This will be our book of the term, so children can have time to understand the story. You will see lots of fun activities around this. They have shown good can-do attitudes to recognising the animals and tried to make the sounds they make.
We like to promote independence at nursery as much as possible and have started to let the children butter their own snack – crackers or toast, peel their own fruit and pour their own drinks. They have choices throughout and really enjoy expressing their own preferences.
Outside play – we love to keep as physical as possible (in all weathers). The children have really enjoyed playing and exploring the garden area and have been keen to try out all the equipment and toys. We have had our first trip to the pet shop and park this week too, which the children loved! They have been keen to walk and explore the environment and have been so well-behaved whilst out and about! We are super proud of them!
Park play!
Fun times at nursery!
