Week Beginning 6th October

This week's Star of the Week. Well done superstar!!

This week we have had a new friend join the Butterfly room and he is settling in well.

This week Buddy the bear is going to another friend's house for the weekend. She is super excited!

Having lots of fun in nursery is tiring work!

The children are becoming fantastic at being independent in nursery, they love expressing their own choices and preferences. We had cereal for a snack in which they had a choice of Rice Krispies, cheerios or shreddies. They all enjoyed picking out their own cereal and tipping it into their own bowls. The children showed good control by using their spoons to feed themselves. They love meal times together and are excellent at sitting down.

This week we have started to create activities based around Halloween. The children really enjoyed decorating a cauldron using cups to make the bubbles on it.

Tuesday 6th October

Today the children have enjoyed pretend play using tools and foam bricks. They all enjoyed building towers and pretending to fix our doors and furniture.

The children thoroughly enjoyed our sand activity today. There were laminated photos of all the children and staff for the children to find. They were so excited to show each other who they had found.

Outdoor play

Wednesday 7th October

Today we enjoyed playing with a range of musical/electronic toys, exploring all the buttons and mechanisms on them to make them work. Alongside this, we also enjoyed an autumn-themed tuff tray including different coloured rice with pumpkins and leaves, conquers and acorns inside for them to play with and explore.

Thursday 8th October

Today we enjoyed a music and movement activity, playing with instruments & ribbons whilst singing songs. The children love to dance and express themselves.

The children also enjoyed exploring the creative tray which was Halloween themed. We used porridge oats with a sprinkle of cinnamon on them for scent. They showed good control when using the spoons for scooping up the oats and putting them in their Halloween buckets. They loved finding the spiders and skeletons hidden amongst the oats.

Friday 9th October

Today we enjoyed decorating our own pumpkin pictures by using paints and tissue paper. We also enjoyed playing with the paw patrol toys and mr potatoe heads from preschool.

We enjoyed our group game again today using the alphabet boxes. The children took turns to open their boxes and see what was inside. They love the excitement of seeing what each other has. This encourages playing alongside others, turn taking and single words.
