REMINDER- Nursery will close for half term after the session on Friday 23rd October and will reopen on Tuesday 3rd November.
Our star of the week this week. Well done superstar!!
Pumpkin Picking!! We all loved visiting the ALPS this week, which is located on the school grounds. It is a fantastic outdoor learning space. The children loved finding the pumpkins within the trees, they even used wheelbarrows. We also hid pumpkin pictures on the floor, under the logs and round the trees. We got caught in the heavy rain, but the children were thrilled about wearing their wetsuits and wellies so they could find puddles to splash in.
This week we have enjoyed lots of Halloween-themed activities! We have used a variety of different textures for the children to play with and explore, including jelly, pasta, play dough, water play, ice play & rice. The children enjoyed finding the different hidden objects inside, like spiders, bats, eyeballs, pumpkins and mice.
Decorating Halloween gingerbreads! The children expressed their own preferences when choosing between a ghost or a bat biscuit. They showed good control in squeezing the icing pen to decorate and putting on their own sprinkles.
We also enjoyed making our own Pumpkin biscuits and chocolate apples with Lauren.
This week we participated in a communication group to promote communication and language & understanding. The focus was to identify familiar objects out of a group. We used a car, hat, spoon, plate, dog, cup and a ball. In turn, we asked the children, "Can you find the ball?" "Can you find the car? After that, to challenge them further, we asked for 2 objects: "Can you find a hat and cup? Lastly, we asked the children, "Can you put the ball on the plate?" or "Can you put a spoon in the cup?
The children were fantastic and showed good understanding throughout. They showed can-do attitudes in this activity.
