This week we have enjoyed learning the first five sounds in the Read, Write, Inc. programme.

These are m,a,s,d and t.

The children have listened to Fred frog say the sounds and we have orally blended them to make a word!

They have practised writing the sounds in their brand new handwriting books- we will be so proud to show you these later in the term at parents evening.

We are a class that love to play in the small world area- we have kept Mrs Rothwell busy thinking of new and exciting ways to get our imaginations working!

 

We have been practising how to hold a pencil correctly and learning to form the letters in our names on our name writing cards.

We have learnt about the different aprons/ coats and vests we need to wear in the classroom to make sure we are safe and happy when we are playing.  We have been very sensible and patient when we have needed to wait for our turn to play.

We love playing with the parachute and accessing the climbing frame when we go outdoors.  Mrs Rothwell has taught us how to climb safely and she will teach us lots of tricks when we are more confident on the frame.

On Thursday, we learnt about turn taking and how our body moves in PE.

We then practised throwing and catching a balloon which we were very skilled at.  We then had to throw it up, clap and catch it!  This was a bit trickier. We practised bouncing the balloon and catching it off the wall- it was lots of fun!

On Friday, we will bring home some handwriting practise to keep us busy over the weekend!  If we bring it back, Mrs Rothwell will stamp the work and give us a dojo for each completed piece.  Ask us about what our dojo monster looks like....the eggs have hatched and some of them are twins!

Every Friday, we choose a Star of the Week.  This child gets a certificate and a prize from the prize box.  We also choose two children to visit Mrs Houghton's office for juice and a story.  We are excited to see who it will be this week.
