25th September
This week in Reception we read the story 'On the Way Home'.
We discussed how the little girl in the story had a wonderful imagination and we talked about the things we use our imagination for.
Bea loves to dress up like Rapunzel and pretends to be a princess
Lincoln pretends to be Spiderman
Luke pretends to be a police officer
Imogen and Luke use their vivid imaginations when playing with the small world characters and resources.
We have also been introduced to the Numberblocks in maths. We made '4' in different ways in our Maths lessons and are working really hard to show finger numbers unto 4.
We have been playing 'Currant Buns' and 'Speckled frogs' in the outdoor area to help us practise this.
This week, we have started to use the virtual classroom to help with oral blending of simple words. We listen as Fred the frog talks and we have to work out what he is saying. Fred speaks in simple sounds- so he says c-a-t and we have to blend this into real word 'cat!'
The children have been working hard everyday to practise their writing skills in their orange handwriting books. We are learning to make anti-clockwise movements for letters like 'a' and 'd' and how to re-trace vertical lines for letters like 'm' and 'n'.
We are excited to share these with you at our parents evening!
