Week ending 11th September

Welcome back to our class blog. What a fabulous week it has been. Let's take a look

We used the story Starting School as the focus for our learning this week. We read the story and talked about the similarities and differences between our own experiences and those in the storybook. A great conversation starter

This week we have started to learn the picture cards linked to the letter sounds in Read Write Inc. In our provision we have been sorting letter sounds and using our memory and recall to help us remember the pictures.

In our Maths area we have been thinking about the numbers 1 and 2 and exploring them in greater detail. We have played games such as 2 or not 2, show me fingers and created number carriages. Can you find numbers 1, 2 or 3 at home anywhere?

We also used unifix to create and make numbers. Tricky task but we stuck with it and are very proud of our efforts

We have also seen a super number of models this week. We have been exploring how to create strong towers and what shapes balance best on top of one another. Great work everyone

We have been very busy exploring patterns and mark making this week. We have created patterns that we are very proud of and displayed them on the wall inside the classroom. We even created our own independent patterns in the creative area. They look amazing don't they?

Next week we will use the text Marvellous Me to help us with our learning. We will explore all the wonderful things we can do and what makes us unique and special.

Have a wonderful weekend
