This week, we were very lucky to welcome visitors from Rail Safety, who came to talk to us about how to stay safe near railways and when travelling on trains. We learnt about the dangers of playing near railway tracks and why it is important to always follow safety rules. The visitors shared lots of useful advice, including staying behind the yellow line, listening to announcements, and never crossing the tracks except at designated crossings.
We also discussed how to be responsible passengers on trains. We learnt that being polite, listening to train staff, keeping the aisles clear, and respecting other passengers all help to make train journeys safe and enjoyable for everyone.
To make the day even more exciting, we dressed up as the many different people who help make our train journeys possible. It was fantastic to see so many different railway roles represented in our classroom! Some children came as train drivers, while others dressed as conductors, ticket inspectors, station staff, engineers, and even chefs who work in First Class. We learnt that it takes a whole team of skilled people working together to keep trains running smoothly and passengers happy.
The visit helped us understand both the importance of railway safety and the many careers that exist within the rail industry. We had a wonderful day learning new things and imagining what it might be like to work on the railway in the future! 🚆⭐
