Hello and welcome back to this weeks class blog. This week we have been busy learning using the text What the Ladybird Heard Next by Julia Donaldson. Here are some of the lovely things we have explored and experienced this week in our continuous provision
We started the week off by listening to the story and then taking some of the sentences from the story and muddled them up then put them in the right order to read them. Here we are with our cut up sentences and rearranging them to make sense!
We then developed this further by taking our learning into the phonic area. We read words on ladybirds and looked at and identified special friends before we fred talked and read the words. Great work everyone! Our blending is coming on a treat
We also took this opportunity to find out more about ladybirds in general. We looked at photographs, read books and checked out some facts on the Internet to help complete or fact finding mission. Take a look at what we discovered
We also created lists of the animals that we encountered in the story of What the Ladybird Heard next. We are super independent writing and the more that we practice the better we get. Keep up the good work everyone. Take a look at our wonderful, fabulous writing!
In our Creative area this week we have been truly enthused about Ladybirds. We even found a ladybird under the veranda for us to look at as we completed our observational drawings. We have been developed our observational and sketching skills this week and the work we have produced is something to be proud of
In our Learning to Learn group we have explored so much this week! Take a look at us in action
In our Maths work this week we have been examples groups that are equal or the same and talking about doubles. Ladybirds have been perfect for supporting our work on doubling.
As we edge closer to the end of the year and sadly our time together in Reception we still have a few firm favourite books left to explore. Next week we will be using the text Superworm - the worm that is super long, super strong! If you would like to listen to the story before Monday please click on the link below -
Have a wonderful weekend
