Friday 19th July

Good morning and welcome to the FINAL blog from Year 5W! What a year we have had! It has been an absolute pleasure teaching each and every child - we have all worked hard and had fun this year heartheartheart

Maths - This week the children have completed their end of year assessments. They have all made good progress. A big well done to them all yesyesyes

English - The children have completed their final hot task in writing. They have written a persuasive text giving for and against arguments for children wearing a school uniform. Our class novel, which is called The Nowhere Emporium, has also been completed. The children have enjoyed reading this fantasy story and have made many comparisons to the Harry Potter novels.

All the children have brought home their summer read, The Giant's Necklace, for over the summer holidays as well as a small work booklet to complete. Please encourage them to bring them back in at the beginning of Year 6.

Our certificate winners this week are Casey and Rebecca for back to back 100% attendance awards. Their determination and dedication to achieving 100% attendance is admirable. Well done to both girls from all of Year 5W smileysmileysmiley

Also, this week Kian was awarded his PLATINUM times table wristband. His resilience in never giving up has been noticed by lots of the teachers in school! Again, well done from all of Year 5W smileysmileysmiley

Finally, our HISTORY ACHIEVEMENT certificate for this half term is Lily for demonstrating passion and enthusiasm when learning about the the British monarchy - particularly Henry VIII. Well done to Lily from all of Year 5W smileysmileysmiley

That's all for this week. We would like to say a big thank you for all your support this past year. Have a wonderful summer break - enjoy the sunshine! School reopens on Tuesday 3rd September. We look forward to seeing our current Year 5 as the new Year 6 class, dressed smartly in their shirts and ties.
