Good morning and welcome to this week's blog from Year 5W. It has been a busy week with lots of super work going on.
Maths - This week the children have been investigating calculating how many degrees in a turn. They have been thinking about clockwise and anticlockwise directions, how many degrees there are in a full turn, a half turn and a quarter turn. Click on the link below to practise calculating degrees in a turn...
English - This week the children have begun to plan ready to independently write their own danger stories. They have made sure to include Year 5 writing objectives such as modal verbs (could, might, must, will, cannot etc) in their plan.
...and relative clause sentences ( The boy, who was locked up, gestured through the window for me to move forwards).
Our certificate winner this week is Archie for LOVING maths ![]()

He thrives during maths lessons, offers fantastic reasoned input to lessons and goes out of his way to challenge himself to difficult multiplication in his free time. A budding mathematician![]()

he was also chosen as the Upper Phase Pupil of the Week, so he gets to keep the trophy at home for the next week. A HUGE congratulations from all of his Year 5 classmates and teachers.
That's all for this week. We hope you have a lovely weekend and look forward to seeing you again on Monday.
