Hello and welcome back to Year 2W's blog.
This week in English lessons we have been collecting ideas to help us write a diary entry set at the start of the Great Fire of London. The children needed to write in the past tense, use I and include feelings. The children worked hard to write good diaries.
In science this week we conducted an investigation. We wanted to know which material would be suitable to make an umbrella for Ted. The children made a prediction after feeling the 4 materials. They had cotton (tshirt), felt, nylon and cotton (tea towel).
We discussed how to make it a fair investigation- some things had to be kept the same and we concluded that that had to be the amount of water used.
We use pipettes and the children watched what happened to each material.
The conclusion of the investigation proved that nylon was the best material to use.
In PSHE we discussed germs and how easily they are spread. The children talked about when we need to wash our hands and why.
To prove how easily germs can spread we use glitter to act like germs. When no soap is used the germs (glitter) stayed, but when we used soap the germs 'moved.'
