Pre-School Room 1 (Jenna)

As we head into flu season, it's more important than ever to help protect our children and those around them.

Flu vaccination is offered to all children aged 2 and 3 years of age.

By vaccinating eligible children, we not only safeguard their health but also help reduce the spread of illness in our wider community protecting those most vulnerable and leading to fewer nursery absences, GP visits, and hospital admissions.

The flu vaccine for 2 and 3 years olds is a nasal spray, it is safe and well-tolerated, with most side effects being mild and short-lived. Children and infants do not usually need to be kept away from their childcare setting after receiving a vaccination. There is also an injectable vaccine available for those who object to the trace porcine gelatine elements in the nasal spray .

Appointments are available through GP practice or at some local community pharmacies. We kindly ask for your support in promoting the childhood flu vaccination programme this season.

Can you please try to be on time when dropping your child off at Nursery,  If you miss the 830 gate you will need to wait till we open again at 850 as Reg 2 are just after us, the same if your child misses the 850 gate you will have to wait until after 9 once Reg 2 have finished letting their children in.  Thank you

Below is a poster advertising a new nurturing programme for parents, which will be held at the family hubs in Wigan & Leigh, This will be running for 10 weeks and parents and children really benefit from this smiley

Can I please remind all parents/carers to write names on all children's items

  • jumpers
  • cardigan's
  • lunchboxes
  • drink bottles
  • backpacks

(We have up to 30 children each day and it does get quite confusing)

We go to the hall for lunch and have a time slot of 40 mins,  if your child has not managed to eat everything we do offer it them when we get back to the room.

If your child is having lunch, please can you provide a lunch bag and a drink which will all fit in the bag as it can be a struggle carrying them to the hall, we don't have access to any cutlery, so if you pack a yoghurt then can you please provide a spoon.

Snack is offered in a morning from 10am and again at 2pm, we also have a water machine at your child's level for them to access.

Snacks we offer are

  • Crumpets
  • Toast
  • Fresh fruit
  • Yoghurts
  • Bagels
  • Wraps
  • sandwiches
  • Crackers

Today 23/9/25 we had a visit from Tracey who’s part of the Be Well team in Wigan, she gave all the staff and children a training session on toothbrushing.  Over the next few days your child will be coming home with a toothbrush, chart and toothpaste.  Below is a poster for top tips for family toothbrushing.

*****Polite reminder***** Please be mindful when packing your child's lunch bags - They are here for a full day so please make sure they have enough food and it's not too minimal.  Majority of the children bring a sandwich/wrap, piece of fruit, yoghurt, crisps and a small chocolate bar.  I have added a link below with tips on healthy lunch box

recipe's.
