Summer 1 learning

Hello and welcome to this half terms class blog. This half term in Nursery we have been exploring lots of lovely texts that link to Growth and Animals. We have looked at The Hungry Caterpillar Story - how animals change and evolve over time. We have enjoyed looking at and using the text Captain Duck - a lovely story all about a duck who thinks he is an expert sailor and takes his friends out on his boat. I will add the links below if you would like to listen to the story together again at home smiley

One of the lovely things that we have had on-going in class all this half term is our lovely experiment exploring how caterpillars change and develop over time. Take a look at us talking about, ordering and looking at what happens when a caterpillar emerges as a butterfly smiley

We have developed our own farm shop in the classroom. We have explored fruit and vegetables, talked about numbers and money and acted out the different roles of customers and shop assistants yes

We have also been taking part in lots of funky finger activities. We have been developing and strengthening our muscles as well as learning all about size and colours.  Take a look at us exploring smiley

Within our Continuous Provision we have been looking at height and ordering. We have created towers using different resources and been measuring ourselves against the towers. Take a look at the learning that took place smiley

Whilst exploring the text The Hungry Caterpillar we have been drawing, looking at pictures and talking about the stages of development. Here we are independently applying what we have been taught in class. Great work everyone smiley

These lovely texts of the week have given us lots of opportunities to explore colour mixing. WE have mixed colours on a large scale, used the colours to paint with and explored what happens when colours are mixed together - lots of language and conversations that help our speaking and listening skills. Why not try colour mixing at home?smiley

Here's a brief round up of other things that have been happening in our nursery class. Look at the fun we have had smiley

As promised here is the list of stories that you can re-visit and share again at home together .....
