Hello and welcome back to the Reg 2 blog. We have had a fantastic second week, full of fun and learning!
In Maths this week, the children have been working in their focus groups to complete a range of activities focused on counting and number recognition.
Our book of the week has been Off to the Park. We have had lots of discussions about what we enjoy doing at the parks we visit and how we should dress when we go out, now that it is winter. Throughout the week, the children have worked in groups to sort and organise the things we do and do not need when we go to the park.
We have been learning some more of our phonics sounds this week. We learnt the sounds ‘d’ and ‘t’. The children have been practising writing these, alongside working on their early writing shapes to support their development. They are doing so well and are very proud of themselves.
For PE, we have been using scarves and fabric to help us coordinate our bodies while dancing.
We have continued to focus on our mindfulness and songs that help us understand our emotions. This week, we have been thinking about the red song and feelings of anger, exploring how anger can make our bodies feel and why we do not use our hands to hurt others. The songs we listen to help us understand positive ways to respond to feelings of anger.
We have also added another page to our calm breathing book.
When not working within focus groups, the children are supported in the classroom and outdoor area to engage in a range of different activities. These activities link to the varied areas of learning and our book of the week.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read through our class blog. We look forward to seeing you all next week and spending more time together in our class during Stay and Play on Tuesday 20th and Thursday 22nd. Please speak to a member of the Reg 2 team if you would like to book onto one of these sessions.
