WB 19th January
Hello everyone and welcome back to the Reg 2 Blog!
We have had a fantastic week focusing on the book Let’s Go Shopping, Peppa. From this, the children have been thinking about healthy and unhealthy foods and enjoyed grouping them together.
Our maths focus has been on patterns. We have worked in our small groups to make and complete patterns using shapes, colours, movement, and sound.
A big THANK YOU to all the grown-ups who attended our Stay and Play sessions. The children were very excited, and it was wonderful to spend that extra time together and allow you to see what the children get up to during the school day.
The class have loved their PE sessions as always and are continuing to develop their movement and coordination.
We have continued with our mindfulness sessions and have added King Breathing to our calm breathing book. This is when we breathe in and lift our “crown,” then breathe out and place our crowns back on our heads.
We have also been thinking about being scared and how we can use calm breathing and counting to help us feel better. We then moved on to another mindfulness song that links to this.
The children have learnt the phonics sounds m, a, d, s and t, and are taking part in early phonics activities linked to the Westfield phonics scheme Read, Write Inc. to develop their understanding of early reading and writing.
The children have also been practising initial writing shapes. This includes lines, crosses, circles, and swirl shapes.
Linking to our topic of shopping, the children have had many activities related to this and food to engage with throughout their day. These activities are all linked to different areas of learning.
