WB 3rd November

Hello and welcome back to our class blog!
We hope you all had a lovely, restful week away and are ready for another busy term filled with learning and fun. This week’s topic has been Bonfire Night.

We have been learning a Bonfire Night song that reminds us how to stay safe around fire and fireworks. You can ask your child if they can remember remember the words:

Whooshing fireworks, whooshing fireworks

Bang and crack, bang and crack

Never touch a firework, never touch a firework

Stand well back, stand well back.

Busy bonfire, busy bonfire

At the park, at the park

Stay by your gown up, stay by your grown up

Keep well back, keep well back.

We’ve been focusing on developing our numeracy skills through exciting activities, including counting firework sounds using a drum and practising quantity recognition.

Following our bonfire night theme children have used their fine motor skills and creativity to produce a variety of fantastic pieces of art on their own and as a group. We will be displaying these within our creative area.

The children have really enjoyed taking part in PE this week. They have been developing their balance and coordination skills through a range of fun games. The children have also worked in small groups, practising turn-taking along with their new skills.

The children have begun taking part in mindfulness sessions in the afternoons. These sessions include sitting together in a calm environment, with soothing music and sensory lights, and taking a quiet moment to think about how we each feel and why. We have been talking about some of these emotions and have started creating our own version of the book Alphabreaths. This includes practising different breathing techniques to help us feel calm and relaxed. Take a look at the pictures below to see our Alligator Breaths and Butterfly Breaths.

Throughout the year, the children in preschool will continue learning about mindfulness, emotions, and how to regulate themselves.

Explore the pictures below to see some of the other fun activities the children have enjoyed engaging with this week.

We’re looking forward to another wonderful week of learning and fun. Our topic next week will be Remembrance.

Thank you for taking the time to read our blog. We hope you enjoy looking through the photos and chatting with your child about all the lovely things they’ve been doing this week.
